Maria’s love for Latin Dance stems from her Puerto Rican roots and connection to Latinx culture. She is a dance instructor and artistic director for MODOS Dance Company, a therapeutic dance company that provides access to therapeutic dance to underserved communities in Chicago. Maria loves to showcase her fierce and bold persona on stage, but also enjoys sharing her goofy and outgoing self with others off the stage. Her passion for dance and psychology led her to pursue her Masters Degree in Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling at Columbia College Chicago. She has a strong understanding of the mind-body connection, which shapes her holistic approach with her students, building well-rounded dancers through the power of movement.
